Brief Biography Of Senator Sunday Karimi

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi (APC Kogi-West) is a Nigerian Politician and an Engineer by profession. He is the Committee Chairman, Senate Services of the Tenth Senate. He was born on the 10th March, 1962 in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State. He studied Production Engineering (Distinction) at Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin in 1979.

From a humble beginnings, shaped by the diversity of his challenges while growing up and toughened with the reality of his life deprivations with the facts of the disadvantages thrown up by the ethnic, social and economic stratifications, he was driven by passion to making a difference. He ventured into private business, where he has made a tremendous success of that Enterprise thereby building capacity for numerous persons before venturing into politics.

 

He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2011. Known for his penchant for integrity, fairness, equity and philanthropy, he was reelected in 2015 becoming the first Lawmaker in his Federal Constituency to be reelected owing to his impactful and purposeful representation. In February 2023, he was elected as the Senator to represent Kogi West Senatorial District in the Tenth Assembly of the Nigerian Senate. He is a well respected personality with his reach cutting across all wards and units in his jurisprudence.

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi legislative and oversight accomplishments are in the several Bills and Motions sponsored by him that are having direct positive impact on Nigerians which ranges from areas of Education, Security, Agricultural, Youths and Women Empowerment, Rural Development to mention but a few, which has continually endeared him to his constituents and beyond.

He is married to Mrs. Stellamari Karimi in a marriage blessed with children.

Civic Experience: Karimi served in Borno State and commenced his career as a Further Mathematics Teacher where he taught at African Secondary School Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, Kogi State.  Thereafter, he became an Engineer at Defense Industries Company Nigeria Limited(DICON) where he worked for about 9 years before resigning and commencing his Engineering Firm. He established Atlantic Drilling Fluids Services Limited which has become a reputable indigenous Company executing several water projects for both the Federal and State Governments in Nigeria

Education: Steve attended Primary School in Egbe and later attended Titcombe College Egbe, Kogi State, and thereafter studied Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Kwara State Polytechnic where he bagged his Higher National Diploma with Distinction
